Hi, I just got a new computer, and im tryin to set up my Verizon DSL. I have the modem, and my computer is telling me that it has found the network, but cannot connect to the internet. How can i connect to the internet through my DSL modem? I lost the startup disc.
I used to have Verizon DSL working on my Win 98 comp but not any longer. Usually it auto connects using the “Dial-up Connection” window but recently dialing has failed.
My login info + password is still the same but i’m wondering what if my “Host name or IP Address” is correct it’s currently something like 1.1.1.1and when i dial it says it’s dialing to it.
btw, i have 2 computers and my other (winxp) works fine online from the same modem.
After installing Verizon DSL my Windows 98 was destroyed– “files were corrupted” I was told. I thought it was bad luck until the repair guy from Verizon told me , “Oh yeah, the DSL doesn’t work. They have all kinds of trouble with it.” Isn’t that outrageous, it doesn’t work and they know it and yet they continue to push it? I had to install Windows XP, no choice as the ‘98 was ruined.
what is the best modem to use for verizon dsl
Was I ‘hacked’? Does someone just scan airwaves, reset my modem, and then use my verizon dsl connection? How does this work? Thanks
On top of that, why would Verizon let them. Verizon offers a DSL service too.
I’m moving down the street, and I need to get my internet up running at the new place as fast a possible (because of my career). Has anyone had experience with moving and switching DSL and phone service?
How long does it take to activate at the new place?
I’d call Verizon and ask them, but their customer support is so horrendous, that I’d rather not.
I just got verizon DSL. The speed they told me is 768kbps for download and 128kbps for upload.
When I download a file from rapidshare the file is downloaded only at 32kbps… Is this slow?????
I thought it would download at least at 75 or 85 kbps…
Is that possible with one modem? The other computer is 60 feet away from this one. what is the best way to get it connected to the internet? Any help would be appreciated.
I have had verizon DSL for 3 or so months and never had any issuses all of the sudden I started getting static on the phone lines then this morning whenever I went to pick up the phone my internet droped. I have one line in the house, from the wall jack I have the 1-for-1 adapter on one side I have the internet cord and on the other I have a DSL Filter going to another 2-for-1 adapter and two phone lines in that. That way did not start giving me issuses up unto afew days ago. When I unplug the internet phone line the static goes away, and when someone uses the phone the Internet Dropes.
Verizon Tech support said the the filter went bad, I tryed all five that they sent me when You first get the service and I still get the static, they said it could be a bad pack and wanted me to order more.
Does anyone think that this is it or it is something else?
