dont know about Mc Fee but you can go to microsoft down load site and they have 2 free scans that will also fix any problems found.free.
i have verizon dsl, speed 3mbps, it sometimes goes slow and i am tired of talking to verizon about it, they are no help, i just wanted to know has anyone tried buying a new dsl modem with higher speed than what your isp provided and if it worked?
If you mean renew your annual commitment to keep your price, then I believe you can renew at http://netservices.verizon.net. Just log in, there should be some kind of option somewhere. If that doesn’t help, just call customer service at (800)567-6789, they can hook you up real quick-like. 
As long as you can log into the modem to change the login to your AT&T log in then yes. If you can’t then no. Also if you have problems the AT&T techs aren’t trained for that modem and as big companies go they may just always blame that and refuse to help you.
My DSL modem had a surge and is behaving awkward, I cycled it, reset it, changed settings around and it continues to do so. I’ve contacted Verizon by email and they only send “blanket” letters, their Chat technicians don’t know anything that’s going on and say they are unable to support me because the modem is no longer under warranty. I guess they don’t understand that DSL is a “Service” and a modem is required for that service and should be waived of any warranty. They refuse to work with me and I would like a new ISP in the Seattle area, anyone know a better service please let me know as Verizon does not treat their customers as if they care. I’ve been jumping through hoops trying to get their support for months.

Only if the motel provides the proper dsl outlet…otherwise, you need to use wi-fi or whatever else the motel provides.
