I Just Had Dsl Activated And Was Told To Email Verizon To Get The 30 Day Free Security?

No need to take security from verizon. They are just trying to sell their software suite.
i am also using verizon dsl for more than a year now and I developed a habit of saying “NO” to such tempting offers like credit card companies or AOL did!
Anyway, just install free zonealarm firewall and that will protect your network.
If you are worried about malicious attacks, you will need good quality anti-virus(like AVG or Avira free edition) and couple of quality anti-spyware(like spybot and adaware se). then you are good to go.
Hope it helps and gives you the bigger picture.

so what is your question? If you have a router, that does NAT so that will block most hacker access to your box. Make sure XP firewall is turned on too and finally, dont download anything suspicious.

I would suggest that you take the free option from Verizon of MSN Premium and not the Yahoo or the “none of the above” option.
MSN Premium will give to you free (no time time):
    McAfee Anti-Virus
    McAfee Personal Firewall
    Webroot Spy-Sweeper anti-spy
Thats about $100.00 free security software.
And you do NOT have to use the crappy MSN browser!
